Good Hygiene Practices GHP practices followed within any food related business to ensure the safety and suitability of food at all stages of production, processing, packaging, transport, storage and sale of safe food.

GHP is to include, upkeep of the facilities, pest control, waste control, use of protective clothing, cleaning and sanitization of equipment including maintenance, and the selection and use of chemicals  etc.

GHPs are also called Prerequisite programs(PRPs); PRPs are the universal steps or procedures that control the operational conditions within a food establishment. They are designed to create an environment favorable to the production of safe food. They are basic condition and activities that are necessary to maintain a hygienic environment.
